75th Anniversary

Assemblyman Phil Ramos presented a proclamation honoring the library's 75th Anniversary (1937-2012) to Brentwood Public Library Trustees William Menendez and Francis Picart, Board President Mary Reid, Library Director Tom Tarantowicz, Board Vice President Ellen Edelstein, Assistant Director Marcia Pryluck, and Trustee Gail Kirkham on April 26, 2013.

Town of Islip S.T.O.P. DAY

The Town of Islip is hosting the 2013 Spring S.T.O.P. Program on May 4th. S.T.O.P stands for Stop Throwing Out Pollutants. This is an event where residents can bring products such as aerosol cans, E-waste, batteries, propane tanks, and chemicals to be disposed of. Residents must bring their S.T.O.P. day flyer.The event is from 9 am - 2 pm. at the Multi Purpose Recycling Facility, 1155 Lincoln Ave., Holbrook. For the list of what waste will be accepted and all other information, please visit the Town's website or call (631) 595 3630.

FOOD FOR FINES

Brentwood Public Library celebrated National Library Week (April 14-20, 2013) by forgiving fines for the week. By bringing in a non-perishable food item to the circulation desk, fines were waived on overdue books, DVDs, system games or CDs. Over 850 pounds of food was donated to a local food pantry. Thanks for helping your neighbors, yourself, and the library!

2013 Spring Street-Sweeping Begins in Islip Town

Islip Town announces that the Town’s Street-Sweeping Program will begin next week. Crews are expected to have reached every street in the Town within four to five weeks, depending on weather. Residents can find out when their specific streets will be scheduled by using the Islip Information Dashboard on the Town website. Just type in your address and click the “Street Sweeping” button. Residents are asked to keep their cars off the roads during the scheduled dates to maximize the effectiveness of street sweeping operations.

Brentwood Public Library Children's Librarian Maggie Mazzola won her age group division in the 2nd Annual Brentwood Fire Department Ames & Elliott Scholarship Run on Saturday, April 13, 2013. Library Clerk & Brentwood Fire Department volunteer Rob Kannert won his age group and was 5th overall.
