Congressman Peter King

Congressman Pete King met with community members at the Brentwood Public Library Thursday evening, May 30, 2013, to talk about how Washington politics affects local issues, including: education, jobs, immigration, housing, and healthcare!

Senator Caesar Trunzo

On behalf of the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce, it is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of a political icon from our community, former New York State Senator Caesar Trunzo. Senator Trunzo died at the age of 87. He proudly served the Brentwood community in the New York State Senate from 1973 to 2008. Senator Trunzo was chairman of the Islip Town Committee and was a former president of the Brentwood Republican Club. He was a member of the Brentwood Lions Club; Sons of Italy; St. Anne's Holy Name Society; a charter member of St. Anne's Council Knights of Columbus and an honorary member of the Board of Directors of the Brentwood Youth Activities. He was a former member of St. Anne's Parish Council as well as a former treasurer of the Brentwood Youth Activities and the Brentwood Little League. Senator Trunzo was an Accounting Supervisor of Fairchild Stratos Corp., Bay Shore, New York, and Chief Accountant and Assistant Treasurer of Dayton T. Brown, Inc., Bohemia, New York. Prior to his election to the New York State Senate, Senator Trunzo served as a member of the Islip Town Planning Board from 1959 until he became councilman of the Town of Islip in 1965. Although Senator Trunzo was always a Republican, he put his community first. He worked tirelessly on behalf of the community. He regularly reached across the aisle and worked in a bipartisan fashion to achieve what was necessary on behalf of our community, the community he proudly represented. Until his passing Senator Trunzo resided on Washington Avenue, Brentwood, New York. His wife Lorraine passed away a few months ago. We extend our sincere condolences to their two children, Laura and Michael. Senator Trunzo’s funeral will take place this Monday at 9:45 at St. Anne’s Church on Second Avenue in Brentwood. Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale. Viewing will be this Saturday and Sunday at Grant Funeral Home on Suffolk Avenue in Brentwood from 2 to 4 as well as 7 to 9:30pm.
