Youth Enrichment Services First Annual Basketball Tournament

Junteenth Celebration

Professor Norman Daniels of SCCC was here on June 13th to talk about the history of Juneteenth, the celebration of the freeing of slaves at the close of the Civil War. Among those attending the discussion were: Library Board President Mary Reid, Prof. Norman Daniels, Judy Daniels, Library Trustee Francis Picart, Leilani Robinson, Library Board Vice-President Ellen Edelstein.

SCPD Community Meeting

The 3rd Precinct will be hosting a meeting for Brentwood residents on Wednesday June 19 7PM at the Brentwood Library. Community members wishing to discuss law enforcement issues with supervisors and officers from the 3rd Precinct are invited to attend. Bilingual police personnel will be available to interview residents in Spanish. The format will be similar to the First Tuesday meetings held monthly at the precinct. It is projected that the discussions will be completed before 8PM.

Islip Farmer's Market

The Islip Farmer's Market hosts an array of local vendors offering a variety of products from fresh fruits and vegetables to homemade goods. The Market will take place every Saturday from now until November 28th in the main parking lot at Islip Town Hall, 655 Main Street, Islip from 7am - 12pm

BCC Scholarship Dinner and Mini Golf Tournament

For a number of years the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce has hosted an annual Scholarship Dinner. This important event funds the scholarships the Brentwood Chamber provides to students in the Brentwood School District. For the first time, we will be having a Miniature Golf tournament immediately before the dinner, whose proceeds will also be added to the scholarship fund. The Mini-Golf tournament will be at the Heartland Miniature Golf Course while the dinner will be held next door at the beautiful Bella Verdi Restaurant. Please know your support will make a difference in the lives of some Brentwood High School students. All proceeds will be directed to our scholarship fund. Community Prayer and Peace Rally

New York State Senator Lee M. Zeldin and elected officials who represent Brentwood and Central Islip, family members of gang vionence victims, community and religious leaders invite you to a COMMUNITY PRAYER AND PEACE RALLY. Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 10am-11am at Ross Memorial Park, 200 Brentwood Road, Brentwood, NY. The community Prayer and Peace Rally has been formed to bring awareness to the continuing issue of gang related violence in our communities here on Long Island. Too many people of Suffolk County have become victims of gang related murder and violence. We need to remember those who we have lost and raise community awareness. This is our opportunity to show support of the growing fight against gang related violence.

BE RED CROSS READY! for families, ages 6 & up with adult, BWJ433 Thursday, June 6, 6:30-8:30 p.m. This presentation teaches three action steps for emergency preparedness: get a kit, make a plan and be informed. It also teaches participants how to prevent and respond to emergencies that they are likely to encounter. Child care for children ages 3 & up will be provided.
