Visit the Sagtikos Manor this summer

The history of the Manor begins in 1962 and spans more than three centuries.The British Army occupied the Manor for a brief time during the Revolutionary War. President George Washington stayed here during his tour of Long Island in 1790. Step back in time and take a tour of the Manor House led by docents in period costume. Brookhaven National Laboratory invites you to Summer Sundays.Tour the world-class facilities, attend an array of dynamic science talks, and see a different science show each week. July 22: DAZZLING LIGHT, ASTOUNDING DISCOVERIES- Tour the National Synchrotron Light Source II, which upon completion will be one of the world's most advanced light sources-a giant x-ray microscope. July 29: NANO, NANO- Visit the Center for Functional Nanomaterials, where Brookhaven scientist probe structures as time as a billionth of a meter. Play with exciting new hands-on-activities in the Nano-Toy-Zone.

Town of Islip Summer Concert Series

Free Philharmonic concert at Heckscher State Park

The annual free Philharmonic concert at Heckscher State Park in East Islip will again be a Salute to the Armed Forces. Special guests will be members of the Claude B. Govan Tri-State Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen. As a tribute to these heroes and leaders, the LI Philharmonic will play an arrangement of Nat King Cole's Straighten Up and Fly Right.

FREE LEARN TO SWIM PROGRAM

Learn to Swim Program Sponsored by the Town of Islip, Great South Bay YMCA, and Trezon Memorial. REGISTRATION Saturday, June 30, 2012 10:00 am-1:00 pm Roberto Clemente, Brentwood Program Information Registration will be held on a first-come, first-served basis. The children will be assigned to one of three age-appropriate groups, 4-6, 7-9, or 10-14 years old. Session A runs from July 9-July 20. Session B runs from July 23– August 3. Pick up a class schedule at Roberto Clemente Pool or the Town of Islip Sports Office at Brookwood Hall, 50 Irish Lane in East Islip.
