POEM IN YOUR POCKET DAY

Celebrate national Poem in Your Pocket Day on Thursday, April 18, 2013! The idea is simple: select a poem you love during National Poetry Month then carry it with you to share with co-workers, family, and friends. You can also share your poem selection on Twitter by using the hashtag #pocketpoem. Poems from pockets will be unfolded throughout the day with events in parks, libraries, schools, workplaces, and bookstores. Create your own Poem in Your Pocket Day event using ideas below or let us know your plans, projects, and suggestions for Poem in Your Pocket Day by emailing npm@poets.org.

New York State Parks Volunteer Day

Online Registration is Now Open! Join Parks & Trails New York, the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, local Friends groups and Governor Cuomo in celebrating. New York's magnificent state parks and historic sites by volunteering at your favorite park on Saturday, May 4. More than 70 state parks and historic sites are participating. Bonus! Please Join us for our Second Annual Ames & Elliott Run at Academy of St Joseph, all money goes toward Scholarships for college-minded Brentwood High School Students, the goal of our 5K Scholarship Run is to commemorate the lives of Ames & Ellott and their dedication to the Hamlet of Brentwood. The April 2, 2013 First Tuesday meeting will be held at the 3rd Precinct, 5th Avenue, Bay Shore at 7:00p.m.

Venture Crew 25 Dessert Mixer on April 2, 2013 from 7:00pm-8:00pm at the Brentwood Freshman Center. They will be serving a variety of desserts (cupcakes, chocolate, ice cream & more). $5.00 per person and tickets will be sold at the door.
