Boy Scout Troop 25 Pancake Breakfast
The Concerned parents of Boy Scout Troop 25 is having an Applebees Pancake Fundraiser on Saturday November 22, 2014 at the Applebees located at 300 Motor Parkway in Brentwood, NY 11717 from 8-10 am. Tickets can be purchased at the door at $10 per person.
The Concerned parents of Troop 25 is a Boy Scout Troop in Brentwood, NY. We are a boy run troop designed to build character, learn lifelong skills, reinforce positive social behaviors, develop leadership skills and teach responsible citizenship. We are encouraging our boys to take pride in their community and to become involved in neighborhood events. With your support, we hope to continue to provide outdoor experiences, camping, fun and much more to boys that live in and around the Brentwood area.

Thanksgiving Pet Food Drive
Live.Love.Bark will be collecting pet food to donate to the animals waiting for their forever homes at the Islip Animal Shelter between November 1st and 21st. Donations will be delivered to the shelter on Saturday, the 22nd. Canned and dry dog and cat food, as well as rabbit food will be accepted. Donations can be dropped at with Venessa in the Communications office at Town Hall - 655 Main Street in Islip. Live.Love.Bark will also pick up donations. National Cat Day
October 29th is National Cat Day, and in honor of that, the Islip Animal Shelter and Adopt-a-Pet Center will be offering free cat adoptions. File an application for adoption on October 29th and Live.Love.Bark, the shelter's non-profit volunteer group, will pay the adoption fee. Adoption fee includes spay or neuter surgery, rabies shot, and micro-chip.

Hispanic Heritage Celebration
The Town of Islip will hold its annual National Hispanic Heritage Celebration and award ceremony, on September 23, at 7:00 pm, held in the Town Board Room of Islip Town Hall. The Town Board will pay special recognition to individuals and organizations that have helped to advance Hispanic Americans living in Islip Town, while celebrating and sharing their heritage.

Annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony
The Town of Islip will be holding its annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Veteran's Memorial Park in front of Islip Town Hall (655 Main Street in Islip) on Thursday, September 11th at 5:00 pm. The Islip Town Board will be joined by other local government officials, fire departments, civic leaders, clergymen, veterans groups, sea cadet corps., and more. Residents are encouraged to come and participate.
SBA Offers Disaster Assistance to Town of Islip Residents and Businesses Affected by Recent Flooding
The United States Small Business Administration (SBA) will be at Islip Town Hall West, 401 Main Street in Islip, from Monday, September 8th to Thursday, September 18th, to offer assistant to Suffolk County residents and businesses who suffered damage from the August 13th record-breaking rain storm through low-interest disaster loans made available by the SBA.
SBA staff will be at this special Disaster Loan Outreach Center at Town Hall until September 18, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Saturday, September 13th, from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The center will be closed on Sunday, September 14th.

Suffolk County Police - 3rd Precinct
Advisory: Central American Parade and Festival Street Closures: On Sunday, September 7th, the Central American Parade and Festival will be held in the Bay Shore and Brentwood areas. The motoring public should expect road closures and diversions, particularly during the hours of 10 AM - 2 PM. Fifth Avenue in Bay Shore will be closed between Spur Drive North and Candlewood Road during these hours. There will be other ancillary detours in the area. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
ROBERTO CLEMENTE REMEDIAL WORK PLAN
The team is currently reviewing a DRAFT clean-up plan for final submission to the NYSDEC which should take place within the next few weeks.
In an effort to help move along the process, the team has, in advance, submitted the Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation plan to the NYSDEC, which is a component of the overall clean-up plan. Yesterday the NYSDEC approved our Groundwater Monitoring Well plan with comments. These wells must be installed PRIOR to any disturbance of materials. The Town is preparing to engage the services of an environmental firm to begin this work. Commencement of well installation will begin shortly.
Simultaneously, the team is actively working to develop the procurement documents for removal of illegally placed material from the soccer field and recharge basin. The goal is to have the procurement documents ready for issuance upon approval of the cleanup plan from NYSDEC.

The NYS Department of Financial Services' Mobile Command Center is available at Islip Town Hall West, 401 Main Street, Tuesday, August 19, 9am to 7pm, to provide insurance assistance to homeowners, renters, and businesses affected by flooding caused by Wednesday's heavy rainfall. The Disaster Recovery Center established by the NYS Office of Emergency Management, is also available at 401 Main Street today, from 9am-7pm.

Adopt-a-thon and Micro-chip Fundraiser
The Islip Animal Shelter and Adopt-a-Pet Center is hosting an Adopt-a-thon on August 9th from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. This event is sponsored by Live.Love.Bark Dog Rescue Inc. There will be over 100 animals for adoption, a doggie run way show, vendors, raffles, and more! The shelter will also be offering micro-chipping for a $25.00 fee.

Recycle a Bicycle
The Town of Islip Adopt a Bike Program gives residents an opportunity to drop off or pick up unwanted bicycles at the Multi-Purpose Recycling Facility (1155 Lincoln Ave. in Holbrook.) Drop off unwanted bikes and make a difference in the life of someone else. Bikes are FREE to Town residents. The Facility is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 2:45 pm.

Bellone, Krupski Announce Free Rabies Vaccination Clinic
In an effort to prevent the spread of rabies, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Legislator Al Krupski announced today that the Department of Health Services and the North Fork Animal Welfare League will offer free rabies vaccinations for dogs, cats and ferrets. The clinic will take place on Sunday, June 22, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Riverhead Animal Shelter located at 532 Young’s Ave., Calverton, New York, and it is open to all county residents.

For a number of years the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce has hosted an annual Scholarship Dinner. This important event funds the scholarships the Brentwood Chamber provides to students in the Brentwood School District.
For the second consecutive year, we will be having a Miniature Golf tournament immediately before the dinner, whose proceeds will also be added to the scholarship fund.
The Mini-Golf tournament will be at the Heartland Miniature Golf Course while the dinner will be held next door at the beautiful Bella Verde Restaurant.
Please know your support will make a difference in the lives of some Brentwood High School students. All proceeds will be directed to our scholarship fund. We truly hope that you will be able to join us for our second annual miniature golf classic and scholarship dinner.

Free Compost
The MacArthur Composting Facility, located at 1101 Railroad Avenue in Ronkonkoma, is now open on Saturdays, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., to both Islip Town residents and landscapers, in addition to its weekday hours of 7:00 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. The compost facility will keep these weekend hours through the fall. Pet Food Drive
On May 17th Live.Love.Bark Dog Rescue Inc. will be at the Pathmark in Bay Shore ( 2060 Sunrise Hwy) collecting pet food for Islip Animal Shelter and Adopt-a-Pet Center between 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Help fill the food bowls of over a hundred homeless animals. Dry and canned food will be collected, as well as treats, toys, and cleaning supplies.
