LEGISLATOR MONTANO IS COLLECTING SCHOOL SUPPLIES FOR NEEDY CHILDREN DONATIONS ARE NEEDED

Supplies to Benefit Disadvantaged Children Across Suffolk County A group of local volunteers have organized a day full of fun, adventures, and learning for approximately 500 hundred needy children from across Suffolk County. The 6th Annual Back Pack Pirates Summer Fest will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2012 on Fire Island. Hundreds of backpacks have been ordered. Now donations of school supplies are needed to fill them up. Invitations to the Back Pack Pirates event will be distributed to needy children ages 5 to 18 at homeless and domestic violence shelters, local parish outreaches, and to families at Department of Labor sites across Suffolk County. “This will be a fun as well as an educational-enjoyable event for the kids. In the end they will walk away with a backpack filled with supplies they will need for the next school year. I encourage everyone to contribute.” Montano said.
